At least 23 pilgrims were injured in a road accident near the Sukrala Mata shrine in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district. The accident occurred when a minibus carrying devotees to the shrine veered off the road and fell into a gorge in the Simbli area due to the driver losing control.
The injured pilgrims were promptly taken to a nearby hospital for medical attention. Among them, two individuals sustained critical injuries as confirmed by the medical staff attending to them. The authorities, including the police, civil administration, and local residents, collaborated in the rescue efforts following the mishap.
The Sukrala Mata Shrine, a revered Hindu temple dedicated to Goddess Mal Devi, is located on a 3,500-foot-high hillock near Billawar in Kathua district. The temple, known for its white dome, is a significant pilgrimage site attracting numerous devotees, particularly during Navratri celebrations.
