The 29th National e-Governance Conference wrapped up on Thursday with Union Minister Jitendra Singh emphasizing the importance of using Artificial Intelligence (AI) intelligently in governance. He commended all states and Union Territories for their active involvement, making the event more impactful. Singh praised the government’s futuristic governance approach under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, focusing on enhancing transparency and efficiency through technology adoption.
The Minister highlighted the simplification of administrative processes through the repeal of outdated laws, leading to more transparent governance. He also mentioned India’s governance reforms gaining international recognition, with countries like Mauritius, the Maldives, Sri Lanka, and South Africa adopting Indian e-governance innovations. Rajasthan was lauded for its digital governance progress, emerging as a leader in implementing e-governance initiatives.
Singh stressed the essential role of Artificial Intelligence in modern administration, emphasizing the need for wise utilization of AI alongside human intervention. He urged state governments to set short-term, measurable goals rather than solely focusing on long-term visions. The conference discussed the evolving nature of administrative roles in a digital governance ecosystem, questioning future scenarios by 2047.
Rajasthan’s Information Technology and Communication Minister, Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, highlighted India’s move towards responsible and inclusive AI under PM Modi’s leadership. He emphasized the importance of technology benefiting all sections of society, not just innovation. The conference was described as the start of a transformative journey towards more efficient, transparent, and citizen-centric governance through technology.
Chief Secretary V. Srinivas noted that e-governance has transformed into managing possibilities beyond systems, aligning with PM Modi’s vision. The event aimed to enhance Rajasthan’s governance ecosystem, with experts sharing digital governance experiences and showcasing technological advancements. The conference focused on bridging the government-citizen gap through technology, promoting digital empowerment and building a transparent, responsive governance system.
