After airspace closures in Iran and several Middle Eastern countries, 444 flights are set to be cancelled on March 1, as per the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). The DGCA reported that 410 flights of domestic carriers were cancelled on February 28 due to airspace restrictions over Iran and parts of the Middle East. Major airports are on operational alert to manage diversions and ensure passenger facilitation, as stated by the DGCA. Passenger assistance, airline coordination, and terminal crowd management are under close monitoring, with senior officials deployed on the ground for support. The Ministry’s Passenger Assistance Control Room (PACR) is actively monitoring passenger concerns and facilitating prompt resolutions. AirSewa recorded 216 grievances on February 28, with 105 grievances resolved during the same period to provide necessary support to affected passengers. DGCA is maintaining close coordination with airlines to ensure compliance with safety and operational regulations. All stakeholders are working together to handle affected passengers orderly and provide timely assistance to travelers. Indian airlines operating international services have been directed by the Ministry of Civil Aviation to monitor airspace advisories, Notice to Airmen (NOTAMs), and route restrictions to ensure passenger safety following the military operation in Iran. Airlines have been instructed to reroute or divert flights when necessary, in line with safety protocols and contingency planning procedures. The safety of passengers and crew remains a top priority, with continuous monitoring by the Ministry of Civil Aviation to ensure safe and efficient air operations. The Airports Authority of India (AAI) and private airport operators have been advised to enhance coordination with airlines for various ground handling aspects and passenger support.
