As many as 47 underground cadres of CPI (Maoist) from Chhattisgarh surrendered before the Telangana Director General of Police. The surrendered cadres, including key members, handed over 32 firearms and various ammunition. The surrender was influenced by Telangana’s surrender and rehabilitation policy.
Following the surrender, the DGP mentioned that almost all key leaders and armed cadres from the South Bastar DVC have been neutralized. Hemla Iythu, who joined the Maoists in 2004, was among those who surrendered. The surrendered cadres, all natives of Chhattisgarh, received an interim relief amount.
A total of 260 underground CPI (Maoist) cadres have surrendered in Telangana this year. The surrender included high-ranking members like Central Committee Members and Divisional Committee Secretaries. The police recovered 238 firearms in 2026 alone, significantly impacting the group’s armed strength.
