The 5th National Physical Disability Elite Cricket Tournament began in Bengaluru with a vibrant inaugural ceremony showcasing cultural performances from Karnataka. Teams from across India have gathered for this prestigious event, organized by the Karnataka State Divyang Cricket Association to provide a national platform for disabled cricket players to display their skills.
Several dignitaries, including PCCAI President Surendra Lohiya and DCCI General Secretary Ravikant Chauhan, graced the inaugural ceremony. The tournament, which features the top disability cricket teams in India, aims to identify and nurture talented players for future international representation. To enhance competitiveness, this year’s Elite Tournament is limited to the top 12 teams, with a separate Plate Group competition for the rest.
DCCI Secretary Ravikant Chauhan emphasized the organization’s commitment to improving facilities for differently-abled cricketers. Special awards, such as cars and scooters for “Man of the Series” winners, are part of the initiative to motivate players. The organization’s focus remains on providing world-class facilities, training, and international-level support to ensure the players’ progress without any hindrances.
