The 5th National Physical Disability Elite Cricket Tournament, organized by the Karnataka State Divyang Cricket Association, commenced in Bengaluru with vibrant cultural performances from Karnataka. Teams from across the country are participating in this esteemed competition, providing a platform for players to exhibit their talents. The event saw the presence of notable figures like PCCAI President Surendra Lohiya and DCCI Secretary Ravikant Chauhan, among others.

DCCI Secretary Ravikant Chauhan highlighted the decision to host an Elite Tournament with the top 12 teams this year to elevate competitiveness and maintain high standards. The remaining 12 teams will engage in a Plate Group competition. The primary aim is to identify top players in the nation and groom them for future international competitions representing India. Additionally, the organization is dedicated to improving player facilities and has introduced incentives like cars and scooters for outstanding performers.

The organization’s focus remains on offering world-class facilities to differently-abled cricketers and enhancing their gameplay standards. Emphasis is placed on training, tournaments, and meeting all requirements at the international level. Ravikant Chauhan reiterated the commitment to the comprehensive development of players and advancing disability cricket. Acknowledgment was expressed to sponsors, partners, and supporters for their contributions towards facilitating large-scale events and improving player amenities.

PCCAI President Surendra Lohiya emphasized the organization’s continuous efforts over 15 years to uplift disability cricket, providing substantial financial aid to players. Noteworthy prizes have been awarded in national tournaments, with significant amounts allocated for exceptional performances. The organization has been a pioneer in recognizing players’ achievements with generous rewards. Efforts will persist to bolster players financially in the future.

Paralympic Chairman Satyanarayana shared plans to integrate mixed-disability cricket into the Asian Para Games and the Paralympic Games in collaboration with DCCI. He expressed optimism about disability cricket gaining prominence globally in the upcoming years. The ceremony also honored former international players and conveyed messages promoting sportsmanship, dedication, and national unity.
