The 5th National Wheelchair Cricket Championship 2026 has commenced at the Shaheed Vijay Singh Pathik Sports Complex in Greater Noida. Organized by the Wheelchair Cricket India Association (WCIA), the tournament will run from May 3 to May 10, featuring top teams from across India in a thrilling “Super 5” grand finale format. Renowned actor Jackie Shroff graced the event as the Chief Guest, officially inaugurating the championship and expressing admiration for the players’ passion and skill.
The actor, moved by the players’ dedication, encouraged everyone to live fearlessly and praised the athletes for their exceptional performance. Jackie Shroff also called for increased support for para-sports, urging sponsors and big companies to back these talented individuals. Ravi Kant Chauhan, Secretary of DCCI, emphasized the championship’s significance in recognizing the determination and spirit of specially-abled athletes, highlighting the importance of institutional support and inclusivity in sports.
