A tragic incident occurred in Delhi’s Ghazipur village as a 76-year-old man lost his life when he was struck by a speeding Scorpio SUV early Saturday morning. The car, allegedly driven by 26-year-old Shrey Kumar from Noida, hit the pedestrian, leading to the fatal accident. Upon police arrival, the driver was apprehended at the scene, while other occupants of the vehicle fled immediately.
The police received a PCR call about the fatal road accident at Ghazipur police station, which was later transferred to PIA police station. The accident happened near a petrol pump on the service road of NH-24 in Ghazipur village. Authorities found the damaged black Scorpio car mounted on the footpath and the elderly male pedestrian lying injured on the footpath after being hit by the vehicle.
The deceased, identified as Paik Karmai, originally from West Bengal and residing in Ghazipur village, was on his way to work at the Flower Mandi with two companions when the tragic incident occurred. Following the accident, the forensic team examined the scene, and the body was taken to Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital for medico-legal procedures. A case is being registered at PIA police station, and investigations are ongoing.
This incident comes in the wake of the Kanpur Lamborghini accident involving Shivam Mishra, son of tobacco tycoon K.K. Mishra, who injured six individuals with his speeding vehicle. The Lamborghini first collided with a rickshaw and then a parked Royal Enfield motorcycle, flinging the rider around 10 feet away. Subsequently, the car dragged the motorcycle’s front wheel before hitting an electric pole and stopping.
