The United States has cautioned Iran against implementing a tolling system in the Strait of Hormuz, deeming it illegal and perilous. Secretary of State Marco Rubio expressed concerns over a potential move by Iran to control access in the strategic waterway. He emphasized the need for international coordination to address any such actions that could threaten global stability.

Rubio highlighted the importance of having a plan in place to counter Iran’s potential tolling system in the Strait of Hormuz. He stated that the US is ready to collaborate with allies and partners to address this issue collectively. Rubio stressed the significance of shared responsibility among nations with interests in the region to prevent any unilateral control over international waterways.

The Secretary underscored the broad implications of the Strait of Hormuz for various countries beyond Western economies. He emphasized the need for contributions from nations worldwide, including those in Asia, to effectively address the challenges posed by any attempts to control critical international waterways. Rubio also warned against allowing any single nation, particularly Iran, to exert unilateral authority over such vital maritime routes.
