The 82nd Fit India Sundays on Cycle event was recently launched by the Minister of Youth Affairs & Sports, Mansukh Mandaviya, at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium. This initiative aims to promote fitness, reduce reliance on fossil fuels, and combat pollution nationwide. Launched in December 2024, the event has garnered significant participation, with over 30 lakh people joining and impacting more than 8 crore individuals since 2025.
In New Delhi, prominent figures like Olympic hockey player Preety Dubey, Fit India ambassador Charul Malik, and yoga coach Anita Solanki cycled around the India Gate circle and Kartavya Path. The event, which encourages activities like running, cycling, yoga, and Zumba, attracted many participants who brought their own bicycles to join the initiative. Additionally, a Game Zone featuring various games was set up to engage children and promote a healthy lifestyle.
The event emphasizes the importance of personal health and fitness, with Minister Mandaviya highlighting the benefits of cycling for just one hour every Sunday. Anshul Mudgal, the State Program Officer for Ayushman Arogya Mandir, expressed the goal of extending preventive healthcare to a wider population through partnerships with organizations like the Sports Authority of India (SAI). The initiative aims to raise awareness about physical health and encourage individuals to prioritize their well-being.
