Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Manish Sisodia expressed gratitude to the people of Punjab for supporting the party’s victory in the state civic body polls. The AAP secured an impressive win in 102 civic bodies by capturing 862 out of 1,765 counted wards. The polls, held on May 26, saw a total of 1,977 wards in play.
Sisodia, in an interview, thanked the people of Punjab for their trust and faith in the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and AAP Convener Arvind Kejriwal. He emphasized that the election outcome reflects public endorsement of the party’s approach to governance, contrasting it with what he described as negative political tactics.
The AAP leader attributed the victory to the affection shown by Punjab residents towards CM Bhagwant Mann, the Aam Aadmi Party, and Arvind Kejriwal. He highlighted the public’s reaffirmation of trust and love through their voting choices. Punjab Minister and AAP’s Punjab unit chief Aman Arora credited the win to the party’s workers, the government’s initiatives under Bhagwant Mann, and Kejriwal’s leadership.
The Congress emerged as the principal Opposition by securing 348 seats, followed by Independents with 242 wards, surpassing the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) with 169 wards. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) won 138 and six wards, respectively. These poll results are significant for the AAP as they precede the upcoming Assembly elections in early 2027.
