Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has strongly condemned the departure of seven Parliamentarians led by Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha, labeling it as a betrayal towards the people of Punjab. The party’s top leadership, including Arvind Kejriwal and Bhagwant Mann, accused the BJP of orchestrating a campaign to lure its MPs away.
Arvind Kejriwal expressed disappointment, stating, “The BJP has once again given Punjabis a shove.” Sanjay Singh, AAP’s Leader in Rajya Sabha, accused the BJP of executing Operation Lotus, led by Home Minister Amit Shah, prior to the Punjab Assembly elections. He criticized the MPs defecting to BJP as “traitors” and emphasized that the people of Punjab would respond to this betrayal.
Sanjay Singh further criticized the BJP and the rebel MPs, questioning their commitment to honesty and truth. He highlighted the controversial farm laws and accused the BJP of harboring individuals involved in serious crimes. AAP spokesperson Anurag Dhanda condemned the move as a severe betrayal and emphasized that the people of Punjab would not overlook it.
Baltej Pannu, the party’s Punjab unit general secretary, alleged that the Central government was using central agencies to weaken AAP through defections. He accused the BJP leadership, particularly Amit Shah, of utilizing Raghav Chadha as a “tool” in this strategy.
