Aam Aadmi Party’s Rajya Sabha MP, Raghav Chadha, showed solidarity with gig workers by experiencing their daily life on the streets of the national capital. In a video shared on social media, Chadha, wearing a quick-commerce company jacket, rode pillion on a two-wheeler with a gig worker, delivering goods to customers. He emphasized the importance of understanding the challenges faced by gig workers firsthand.
Chadha, a Chartered Accountant and former employee of global accountancy firms, recently highlighted the release of draft social security rules for gig workers. He commended the government’s efforts in recognizing and protecting the rights of gig workers, despite platforms not heeding their voices. Chadha’s support for gig workers also extended to their demands for fair wages, better working conditions, and social security.
On New Year’s Eve, Chadha stood in solidarity with gig workers who staged a symbolic strike nationwide, advocating for their rights. He spent time with protesting gig workers in Delhi, listening to their grievances and supporting their calls for fair treatment and social security. The strike, organized by worker unions, aimed to draw attention to the challenges faced by gig workers and their vital role in India’s urban workforce.
Chadha’s active involvement in advocating for gig workers’ rights reflects a growing awareness of the need for better working conditions and protections for this segment of the workforce.
