An Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab delegation recently held discussions with Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav in Chandigarh regarding a false video being circulated to tarnish Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s image and disrupt peace in the state. The delegation, including AAP state President Aman Arora and Finance Minister Harpal Cheema, submitted two reports to the DGP, urging legal action against those responsible for creating and spreading the misleading video on social media.
During a media interaction post the meeting, Cabinet Minister Harpal Cheema accused the Akali Dal of attempting to defame Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann through the fabrication of the video. He criticized the Akali Dal’s history, labeling it as consistently detrimental to Punjab and its people, emphasizing that such actions to discredit the government will not be tolerated.
Highlighting past injustices during Akali Dal regimes, Cheema referenced incidents in 1986 and 2015, where Punjab faced severe turmoil due to the party’s governance. He mentioned the suppression of truth and injustice towards those seeking accountability, emphasizing the need to maintain peace and order in Punjab, with a firm stance against any attempts to disrupt the state’s stability.
