The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab organized protests across the state denouncing Leader of Opposition Partap Singh Bajwa for his casteist comments directed at Cabinet Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO. Participants, including senior leaders, ministers, and residents, demanded a public apology from Bajwa and the Congress leadership. AAP leader Baltej Pannu emphasized that such derogatory remarks not only insulted the minister but also targeted the entire Dalit community and hardworking people of Punjab.
The AAP Punjab General Secretary highlighted the Congress party’s alleged anti-Dalit stance, calling for a public apology to the Dalit community and all diligent workers. Questioning the Congress leadership’s silence on Bajwa’s remarks, AAP leaders challenged whether the party officially endorsed such casteist language. Protests were widespread in Punjab, with significant demonstrations in various cities, where residents and artists joined AAP in condemning Bajwa and the Congress party’s stance against Dalits.
Challenges to the Congress leadership continued as AAP leaders questioned whether the party supported Bajwa’s derogatory comments. Protests extended to different cities in Punjab, with residents and activists rallying against the anti-Dalit mindset. The demonstrations aimed to draw attention to the need for respect and dignity for all communities, especially the marginalized groups facing discrimination.
