Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)’s Vadodara city president, Ashok Oza, was arrested following a complaint by a 40-year-old woman accusing him of rape, criminal intimidation, and blackmail. The complaint, lodged at the Kapurai police station in Vadodara, also involves members of Oza’s family. The woman alleged that Oza promised to help her family but instead exploited her, leading to multiple instances of rape.
The complainant claimed that Oza drugged and raped her at his residence before taking her to different locations, including Mumbai, where the assaults continued. She further accused Oza of recording explicit material to blackmail and threaten her. Additionally, allegations were made against Oza’s son, Anand Oza, for similar offenses, while his wife and daughter were accused of harassment. Vadodara police have arrested Oza and obtained custody for further investigation.
The arrest follows a previous case where Oza and an associate were booked for impersonating an Intelligence Bureau (IB) officer and threatening an AAP worker. Investigations revealed that the impersonation was linked to internal party issues, and no actual IB officer was involved. Oza and his associate were charged with criminal conspiracy, impersonation, and intimidation, along with violations of the Information Technology Act. Police are conducting ongoing investigations in both cases.
