Abdul Qadir has been selected to replace wicketkeeper Mohammad Shayan in the Pakistan squad for their U19 World Cup final Super Six match against India. Shayan was sidelined due to a nasal bone fracture sustained during a team training session. The ICC’s Event Technical Committee approved Qadir as the replacement, as confirmed in a statement by the ICC.
With England and Afghanistan securing spots in the semi-finals, India and Pakistan will battle it out for the final spot in their upcoming Super Six match. India’s path to the semi-finals is clear – a victory against Pakistan will ensure their qualification as the top-ranked team from Group 2. However, a loss could complicate matters if Pakistan can improve their net run-rate.
For Pakistan to overtake India in the standings and secure a semi-final spot, simply winning the match won’t be sufficient. They would need a significant victory margin. If Pakistan bats first, they must win by 105 runs or more to finish second in Group 2. On the other hand, if they chase a target set by India, they must do so at a rapid pace to qualify.
If Pakistan needs to chase a target of 251, they must do it in 29.4 overs or less to advance to the knockouts. The chase becomes even more challenging if the target is lower, requiring Pakistan to chase it even quicker.
