Abhay Singh staged a remarkable comeback to defeat Egyptian player Aly Abou Eleinen in the men’s opening round of the El Gouna Open, a PSA Platinum event. After losing the first game, Singh bounced back strongly to win the next two games, eventually sealing the victory with a thrilling 11-8 win in the decider.

Despite facing a 1-2 deficit, Abhay Singh displayed resilience and aggression in the fourth game, dominating with an 11-4 win to force a decisive fifth game. In a tense final game, Singh fought back from a 7-3 deficit to secure a memorable win over Eleinen.

The next challenge for Abhay Singh will be against Egyptian sixth seed and world No. 7 Youssef Ibrahim in the upcoming round of the tournament. Meanwhile, in the women’s section, Anahat Singh, the world No. 20, faced a defeat against top-ranked Egyptian player Hania El Hammamy in a closely contested match.

Anahat Singh, the Indian Open champion, showcased her attacking prowess early on, taking the lead in the match. However, El Hammamy’s experience and resilience turned the tide as she claimed victory in a hard-fought battle. Despite a spirited fightback from Singh in the third game, El Hammamy managed to secure the win after a competitive four-game encounter.
