Trinamool Congress General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee accused the BJP of intimidating Trinamool Congress Booth Level Agents (BLAs) by contacting them and offering money. He alleged that the Election Commission had shared the list of Trinamool Congress BLAs with the BJP. Speaking at a public meeting in South 24 Parganas district, Banerjee claimed that the BJP was making calls to the agents from their Delhi office, urging them to work for the BJP in exchange for payment.
Banerjee, while launching his campaign for the 2026 Assembly elections, set a goal of winning by a margin exceeding 40,000 votes from the Pathar Pratima constituency. He outlined the Trinamool Congress’s pledges for the upcoming elections, including initiatives like ‘Lakshmir Bhandar’ and providing permanent housing to all citizens within five years, irrespective of central government support.
Asserting that the election was crucial to remove the BJP from power in Bengal, Banerjee vowed to reduce the BJP’s seat tally to below 50. He expressed confidence in Mamata Banerjee’s government securing a fourth term on May 4.
