Trinamool Congress leader Abhishek Banerjee alleged that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) had intentionally singled out the Indian Political Action Committee (I-PAC) for aiding his party in election strategies and the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise in West Bengal. Banerjee criticized the ED for persistently harassing Trinamool Congress members, including himself and his family, over a period of time.
During a public gathering in Nadia district, Banerjee vowed that neither he nor anyone in the Trinamool Congress would yield to pressure from New Delhi, especially with the upcoming state Assembly elections. He also emphasized that voters from the Matua community in Nadia would not be misled by the BJP’s promises regarding citizenship and voting rights.
On a separate note, the West Bengal BJP filed a complaint against Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, accusing her of obstructing ED officials during raids at the I-PAC office and the residence of I-PAC co-founder Pratik Jain. The BJP urged the Governor to take action against administrative and police officers who allegedly impeded the ED’s operations, stating that no Chief Minister has the authority to interfere in an ongoing investigation.
