Trinamool Congress’ general secretary and Lok Sabha member, Abhishek Banerjee, arrived at the Enforcement Directorate office in Kolkata to participate in the investigation related to the cash-for-school-job case in West Bengal. Despite being summoned for noon, Abhishek reached the ED’s Salt Lake office before 11 a.m., well ahead of the scheduled time.
Upon his arrival at the ED’s office, Abhishek Banerjee did not respond to any questions from the media present. Unlike previous instances during the Trinamool Congress regime, there was no additional security or special police deployment at the CGO complex on this occasion.
During the previous regime, elaborate security measures were in place when Abhishek faced interrogation at the ED’s office. However, on this particular day, there were no restrictions on traffic or media presence at the CGO complex. Abhishek Banerjee’s name appeared in the charge sheets filed by both the CBI and the ED in connection with the school job case investigation.
In the ED’s chargesheet, the name of Leaps & Bounds Private Limited, where Abhishek previously served as the Chief Executive Officer, was highlighted. The CBI initiated the probe into the Bengal school-job case under the direction of former Calcutta High Court judge Abhijit Gangopadhyay, who is now a BJP Lok Sabha member. Subsequently, the ED also intervened by registering Enforcement Case Information Reports.
