Trinamool Congress General Secretary, Abhishek Banerjee, slammed Union Home Minister Amit Shah for his comments on infiltration in West Bengal, labeling him as the “country’s unsuccessful Union Home Minister.” Banerjee headed to Delhi to meet the Chief Election Commissioner to protest ongoing hearings on the state’s draft voters’ list.
Before departing for Delhi, Banerjee criticized Shah at the Kolkata airport, referencing recent remarks by BJP members accusing Shah of being an infiltrator. Banerjee highlighted the lack of action against these MPs by the BJP leadership and held Shah responsible for border security issues.
Banerjee pointed out the recent terror incidents, including a blast in Delhi before the Bihar Assembly polls, questioning Shah’s actions as Home Minister. He also criticized Shah’s contradictory assurances to the Matua community regarding voting rights under the Citizenship Amendment Act, citing divisive politics within the BJP.
