Trinamool Congress General Secretary and Lok Sabha member Abhishek Banerjee complied with a court order by giving his voice samples at Bidhannagar Court in West Bengal’s North 24 Parganas district. This action was in response to a hate speech case registered against him for allegedly making violence-inciting statements and threatening Union Home Minister Amit Shah during an election rally.
Abhishek Banerjee, who is also the nephew of former West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, had faced an ultimatum from a single-judge bench of Calcutta High Court to provide his voice samples or risk losing interim protection from police action. The case pertains to his alleged hate speech before the recent Assembly polls.
Under tight security, Abhishek Banerjee arrived at the court at 11:55 a.m. and gave his voice samples to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) officers of West Bengal Police. The court had mandated his presence along with forensic experts and a judicial magistrate for this procedure.
Abhishek Banerjee’s court appearance was shielded by heavy police presence to prevent any potential public disturbances, as directed by the Calcutta High Court. Despite media presence, he refrained from making any comments and smoothly completed the required process without incident.
