Trinamool Congress General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee reacted to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s criticism of the West Bengal government regarding the venue change issue involving President Droupadi Murmu. Banerjee emphasized that the upcoming Assembly polls represent a direct political battle between the people of Bengal and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) along with central probe agencies.
Banerjee accused the BJP of utilizing various entities such as central probe agencies, Election Commission, Union Ministers, Governors, Chief Ministers of BJP-ruled states, and even the President’s chair to target the people of West Bengal. He highlighted that when the entire system is aligned against West Bengal, the state’s residents become more resilient.
The strong statement from Abhishek Banerjee followed Prime Minister Modi’s remarks criticizing the Trinamool Congress-led West Bengal government for disrespecting the President. Modi expressed disappointment over the incident involving the venue change for the ninth International Santal Conference, where President Murmu was the chief guest, and the lack of a meeting between the President and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee or any Cabinet Ministers during her visit to West Bengal.
