The ABVP unit at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) criticized the recent controversial slogans aimed at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah on campus. The Left-led student body, including JNU’s office-bearers, allegedly participated in the protests. ABVP has called for a police inquiry and strict measures against the individuals involved.
Several Left-wing student groups at JNU chanted slogans during a gathering at the ‘Guerrilla Dhaba’ within the university premises. The incident occurred following the Supreme Court’s denial of bail to former JNU students Umar Khalid and Sharjeel Imam related to the 2020 Delhi riots case.
Around 30 to 40 students linked to the DSF, AISA, and SFI staged a demonstration, voicing anti-government slogans at the campus. One of the slogans heard was “Modi-Shah ki kabra khudegi, JNU ki dharti par.”
ABVP (JNU unit) leader Manish Choudhary alleged that JNU’s office-bearers, along with past members and alumni, were present during the sloganeering. Choudhary emphasized that such actions disrupt India’s social fabric and hinder the nation’s progress efforts. He urged for strict actions by the authorities against those responsible.
