A packed courtroom in Bhopal witnessed the accused, Samarth Singh, appearing before Judicial Magistrate Anudita Gupta. He was sent to seven days of police remand in connection with his wife Twisha Sharma’s alleged suicide case. Despite the public attention, Samarth maintained a calm demeanor throughout the proceedings.
Samarth, escorted by heavy police security, stood in the dock as all eyes in the courtroom closely observed his conduct. Unlike his previous appearance in Jabalpur where he concealed his face, in Bhopal, he faced the court openly. Twisha’s brother, Major Harshit Sharma, noted the absence of remorse on Samarth’s face regarding his wife’s demise.
Major Harshit Sharma emphasized the critical nature of the upcoming week following the court’s decision to grant police custody of Samarth Singh for seven days. He expressed hope for a swift Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) intervention in the case. The family continues to demand a CBI probe, alleging police delays in taking action.
The courtroom, filled mainly with lawyers who knew Samarth personally from his legal practice in Bhopal, also highlighted his mother’s legal background. Giribala Singh, Samarth’s mother, a former judicial official, has been named a co-accused in Twisha Sharma’s death case. Samarth Singh’s arrest in Jabalpur, after being missing for nearly 10 days post Twisha Sharma’s death, has garnered significant public attention in Madhya Pradesh.
