Spiritual guru Acharya Pramod Krishnam stated that Rahul Gandhi, the Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition, is accountable for the Congress party’s decline. This response was triggered by Gandhi’s criticism of economic distress, inflation, and unemployment in India, accusing PM Narendra Modi of being distracted. Gandhi’s comment followed PM Modi gifting ‘Melody’ toffees to the Italian leader during a visit to Rome. In a witty retort, Krishnam suggested that PM Modi should also gift these toffees to Rahul Gandhi.
Krishnam also criticized the Samajwadi Party for alleging suppression of Muslims in Uttar Pradesh. He proposed renaming the party as ‘namazwadi party’ and accused them of promoting casteism whenever in power. Krishnam condemned the party for attacking the ‘Sanatan’ culture and reacting out of fear following Mamata Banerjee’s defeat in West Bengal. He emphasized that no one in Uttar Pradesh is facing suppression.
Regarding the UP government’s decision to enforce a uniform dress code in universities, Krishnam supported the move, considering it a symbol of institutional prestige. He also addressed Humayun Kabir’s comments on ‘qurbani’ during Bakrid, linking Kabir’s name to the Mughals and criticizing his language resembling that of Mughal King Babur. Krishnam asserted that those echoing Muslim rulers’ sentiments should not reside in India.
