Activist Sonam Wangchuk concluded his 26-day hunger strike in the presence of Union Ministers J.P. Nadda and Jitendra Singh, along with doctors, family members, and supporters. He also thanked his family for their unwavering support during his prolonged fast. The conclusion of the hunger strike followed appeals from political leaders and civil society groups, with worries about Wangchuk’s health and the risk of unrest.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the government’s plan to introduce a comprehensive draft Bill with stricter provisions against paper leaks. The proposal, to be discussed in the Union Cabinet meeting, aims to address the distress caused to students and families by such leaks.
