Actor Kamaal Rashid Khan, also known as KRK, has been placed in police custody until January 27 by a Bandra court following a firing incident in Oshiwara, as confirmed by Mumbai Police officials. Khan, after being remanded, clarified that the firing was accidental and not intentional to harm anyone. The police are currently investigating the motive behind the incident and verifying Khan’s statement, with the actor’s full cooperation.
Mumbai Police arrested KRK in connection with a two-round firing incident in Oshiwara, where he was identified as the main suspect. It was revealed that the actor fired two rounds while cleaning his gun at home to ensure its proper functioning. Khan had obtained a gun license and firearm from Uttar Pradesh in 2005, bringing it to Mumbai and keeping it at his residence for nearly two decades.
Following the implementation of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) before the Mumbai Municipal Corporation elections, KRK deposited his firearm at the Versova Police Station and retrieved it after the MCC was lifted. While cleaning the gun a few days later, he accidentally fired two rounds towards a tree, which due to strong winds, hit the nearby Nalanda building. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident.
The Oshiwara Police registered a case and initiated a thorough investigation from various angles to understand the circumstances of the firing incident. The incident occurred on January 18, where two bullets struck a residential building in Oshiwara, Andheri. Police recovered the bullets from different floors of the Nalanda Society during the investigation.
