Actor Rohit Chandel, known for his work in television, has been arrested by the Ghatkopar police in Mumbai for allegedly stalking, repeatedly calling, harassing, and assaulting a 16-year-old girl in an eastern suburb of the city.
The actor has been booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act based on the complaint filed against him. It is alleged that he made multiple calls to the minor from his phone and other numbers, causing her distress.
According to the complaint, on July 5, Chandel confronted the girl near her residence, chased her, engaged in an argument, verbally abused her, and physically assaulted her. The police have charged him under relevant sections of the law for his actions.
Rohit Chandel, who started his acting career with supporting roles, has gained popularity for his performances in youth-oriented and family dramas on television. He made his television debut in 2014 and has since appeared in various successful shows, showcasing his acting skills and versatility.
