In a video posted on social media, Lahiri showcased a classic brown briefcase gifted to him by Singh around 36 years ago during their time together on the show Ramayan in the 80s. Lahiri expressed the sentimental value of the gift and hinted at an interesting story behind it that he plans to share in a future post.
The briefcase holds significant sentimental value for Lahiri, who received it from Dara Singh, known for his portrayal of Hanuman, during their time in Africa, specifically in Kenya’s capital, Nairobi. Lahiri emphasized the priceless nature of the gift, stating that it has been in his possession for over three decades. He concluded the video by sending well wishes to his followers and signing off with “Jai Ram.”
The show Ramayan, in which Lahiri portrayed Lakshman, remains a classic in Indian television history. Alongside actors like Arun Govil, Arvind Trivedi, Dara Singh, and Dipika Chikhlia, the cast garnered immense popularity and success following the show’s airing in the late 80s. Originally broadcast in 1987 on Doordarshan, the show captivated audiences and became a cultural phenomenon, with people gathering around TV sets every Sunday to watch.
