Actress Ansiba Hasan has escalated the legal dispute within the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) by taking action against actresses Lakshmi Priya and Swetha Menon. She filed a complaint with the court, alleging inaction by the Palarivattom Police on her accusations of defamation and harassment. This move follows a similar legal action against actor Tini Tom, who is now facing criminal proceedings.
Ansiba Hasan approached the Judicial First Class Magistrate Court after claiming that the police did not register a case based on her complaint against Lakshmi Priya for defaming her online. She also highlighted the lack of action on her complaint against actress Swetha Menon. The recent court developments come after a case was filed against actor Tini Tom, challenging the police’s initial decision of no wrongdoing.
The Kadavanthra Police have registered a case against Tini Tom under serious charges related to allegations made by Ansiba Hasan. These accusations include public humiliation during an AMMA event where Tini Tom allegedly made offensive remarks about Ansiba. The court intervened after finding the police report incomplete and ordered further investigation into the matter.
The Magistrate Court dismissed the police’s conclusion that the derogatory remarks were made in jest and emphasized the need for a thorough criminal inquiry. Actress Neena Kurup’s statement supporting the allegations against Tini Tom played a crucial role in pushing for the registration of an FIR. As a result, the Kadavanthra Police have initiated legal proceedings and are set to question Tini Tom regarding the allegations.
In response to the legal actions, Tini Tom is reportedly seeking legal advice to challenge the FIR in the Kerala High Court before any coercive measures are taken. Simultaneously, the Magistrate Court has instructed the Palarivattom Police to provide a detailed report on the status of Ansiba’s complaints against Lakshmi Priya and Swetha Menon by July 9. These legal developments have heightened tensions within AMMA, expanding the controversy beyond Tini Tom’s case to encompass issues of online defamation and police inaction on related complaints.
