Actress Pooja Ruparel recently had a nostalgic reunion with filmmaker Rakesh Roshan, more than three decades after working together on the 1993 film “King Uncle”. Sharing a series of then-and-now pictures on Instagram, Pooja, known for her role as Munna in the film, included behind-the-scenes glimpses from the movie featuring Jackie Shroff, Shah Rukh Khan, and others.
In the photos, Pooja expressed her joy at meeting Rakesh Roshan again after 33 years, referring to him as her “Rakesh uncle”. She described the encounter as serendipitous, coincidentally happening during Christmas time, and fondly recalled the warm memories from their time working on “King Uncle”.
“King Uncle” drew inspiration from the 1982 English film “Annie” and narrates the story of Ashok Bansal, an industrialist whose life changes when he meets an orphan girl named Munna. The movie, which received moderate success at the box office, has since become a beloved classic among families and children.
Pooja Ruparel, who began her acting career as a child artist in 1993 with “King Uncle”, later gained widespread recognition for her role as “Chutki” in the iconic film “Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge”. She has continued to appear in various Bollywood movies and TV series, such as “Amit Sahni Ki List”, “X: Past Is Present”, and shows like “24” and “Zabaan Sambhalke”.
