Police complaints have been lodged against Bengali actress Sreelekha Mitra at various police stations for allegedly displaying an obscene photo of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. BJP leader Keya Ghosh filed a complaint against Sreelekha at Anandapur police station in Kolkata. Similar complaints have been registered at police stations in different districts, including Bidhannagar Cyber Crime police station.

On July 24, a protest took place in Kolkata against the NEET question paper leak, with demands for the resignation of the then Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. Sreelekha Mitra participated in the protest and was photographed holding a poster. Allegations suggest that an obscene image of the Prime Minister was visible on the poster. Following this incident, complaints were filed against Mitra under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

Despite the complaints, no FIR has been filed yet, as per police sources. The decision to register an FIR will be made after the initial investigation. Mitra defended herself, stating that a viral picture showed her holding a poster and denied intentionally displaying any offensive content. She clarified that due to not having her glasses, she could not clearly see the poster amidst the crowd during the protest.

Sreelekha mentioned that she was unaware of the content on the poster, especially as the police were intervening aggressively at the time. BJP leader Keya Ghosh expressed outrage over the alleged image of the Prime Minister, calling for legal action against Sreelekha. Ghosh demanded strict punishment and immediate arrest of the actress, emphasizing the need for accountability.
