Actress Sukanya Boruah has debuted internationally at the Berlin International Film Festival with her film “Not a Hero.” The movie premiered on 14 February 2026 at the festival and received a Special Mention in ‘Crystal Bear for the Best Film in Generation Kplus’ by Generation – Youth Jury. Sukanya expressed her joy at the premiere, stating that it was overwhelming to see her debut film showcased at Berlinale.
She described the experience of watching the film with the team as emotional, humbling, and powerful. Sukanya mentioned the magical feeling of hearing the audience’s first reactions in such a prestigious setting, emphasizing that it made all the struggles worthwhile. Directed by Rima Das, “Not a Hero” delves into the lives of young individuals navigating their paths in the world.
Rima Das, in addition to directing, has written, edited, and produced this Indian-Singaporean coming-of-age drama. Sukanya Boruah portrays Pahi in the film, alongside Mrinmoy Das as Rio and Bhuman Bhargav Das as Mivan, among others. The cinematography for the movie was handled by Rima Das and Aditya Varma, with music by Pallab Talukdar.
Sukanya Boruah has established herself in Assamese cinema, music videos, and TV series like “Nima Denzongpa” on COLORS TV and “Sakuntala” on RANG TV. Apart from her acting career, she has featured in notable advertisements for brands such as Coca Cola, Caprese, Samsung, Nestlé, Nykaa, Usha Fan, and Skybags.
