Actress Vismaya Mohanlal received a significant cyber attack after backing the student protest led by CJP in New Delhi against alleged NEET exam irregularities and criticizing the harsh police response. The protest, demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over NEET paper leaks, was halted by police using force.
Following images of injured students circulating on social media, Vismaya posted a strong message on her Instagram condemning the violent treatment of citizens in a democratic country. This led to a wave of abuse mainly from supporters of the BJP and the Central government.
As Vismaya’s debut film ‘Thudakkam’ is scheduled for release on August 7, some social media users called for a boycott, accusing her of seeking publicity with her statements. Hostile comments flooded Mohanlal’s official Facebook page and related news posts, targeting both Vismaya and her father.
Many critics attacked Vismaya and other film personalities supporting the students, labeling them as “anti-national” and resorting to derogatory language. Despite the online backlash, there was also a significant outpouring of support for Vismaya for her courage in speaking out on a contentious issue.
