Adani Electricity Mumbai Limited has maintained its position as India’s leading distribution utility for the second year in a row, scoring 92.5 for consistent performance. The company, part of the Adani Group, received an A+ rating among 66 utilities nationwide, excelling in supply reliability, billing accuracy, and grievance redressal.
Kandarp Patel, the Managing Director and CEO of Adani Electricity, emphasized the significance of this achievement, attributing it to the dedication and trust of the city they serve. The utility’s commitment to providing reliable and efficient power to keep Mumbai running smoothly without disruptions was highlighted.
India’s power distribution sector is evolving towards a performance-oriented model, focusing on operational efficiency, financial discipline, and consumer service. The latest rankings by the Union Ministry of Power and REC Limited indicate an overall improvement in consumer service metrics across the sector, with a notable increase in A+, A, and B+ ratings.
Adani Electricity’s success is attributed to its financial and operational efficiency, resource adequacy, supply planning, and emphasis on digitalization through advanced metering and analytics. With a consumer base of over 30 lakh in Mumbai, the utility prioritizes reliability, responsiveness, and transparency in its operations.
The rankings also showcase a more competitive landscape in the sector, with both private and state-owned utilities excelling. Notable performers include Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited (TPDDL), Noida Power Company Limited (NPCL), Dakshin Gujarat Vij Company Limited (DGVCL), and Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport Undertaking (BEST), indicating a shift towards governance, execution, and technology-driven outcomes.
