Adani Electricity has successfully cut its Aggregate Technical and Commercial (AT&C) losses to 4.46% in FY 2025-26 from 4.7% the previous year. This achievement places it among the Discoms with the lowest AT&C losses nationwide, as per a company statement. The reduction of 0.24% in AT&C losses is expected to ease the burden on honest consumers.
During the financial year 2025-2026, Adani Electricity carried out 36,720 mass raids and filed 486 First Information Reports (FIRs) against power theft perpetrators. The company’s intensified vigilance included a 40% rise in odd-timing raids, covering early mornings, late evenings, and holidays.
Moreover, the company booked 5,897 power theft cases and seized 79.25 tons of illegal wires during the raids. The total theft amounted to 19.82 million units, valued at Rs 43.39 crore, according to the statement. Noteworthy cases include the detection of a Rs 1.63 crore electricity theft case at Swastik Compound, Chincholi Bandar Road, Malad (West).
Adani Electricity emphasizes that power theft is a serious offense under Section 135 of the Electricity Act 2003, punishable by a fine, imprisonment of up to three years, or both. The company actively collaborates with law enforcement to conduct raids, apprehend offenders, and confiscate illegal equipment used in power theft.
In high-demand areas like slum clusters, power theft strains the existing infrastructure, leading to increased maintenance costs. An Adani Electricity spokesperson highlighted the commitment to combating power theft to protect honest consumers and reduce AT&C losses further. The company’s efforts aim to maintain competitive tariffs and safeguard its infrastructure.
