Aerospace engineer N. Jayan, known for leading the development of India’s CE20 cryogenic engine, has been named Director of the Liquid Propulsion Systems Centre (LPSC) within the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). The CE20 engine, a significant achievement under Jayan’s guidance, powers India’s LVM3 heavy-lift launch vehicle, enhancing the nation’s space capabilities with indigenous technology.
Jayan’s appointment signifies the promotion of a key figure in India’s cryogenic propulsion program to oversee the crucial ISRO center responsible for rocket engine development. His career, which includes roles such as Associate Director of LPSC and leadership positions in various space projects, has been marked by contributions to India’s advancements in propulsion technology.
