Afghanistan’s Acting Foreign Minister, Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi, accused Pakistan’s military of conducting airstrikes in Kabul, likening them to Israeli attacks on Gaza. The alleged airstrikes targeted drug-rehabilitation centers, resulting in the death of over 408 individuals and injuring more than 265. Muttaqi condemned the attack as deliberate and harmful to vulnerable groups in Afghan society.
He stated that the victims were drug-addicted individuals enrolled in Afghan government programs supported by international humanitarian organizations. Muttaqi expressed concern that the casualty figures could rise further due to the attack. The Foreign Minister criticized Pakistan’s military for disregarding Islamic and humanitarian principles of warfare by targeting civilian and humanitarian facilities.
Muttaqi emphasized that the assault, occurring during Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr, reflected a lack of respect for human and Islamic values by the Pakistani military. He urged global condemnation of what he described as an inhumane and oppressive act, drawing parallels to Israeli actions in Gaza. The Foreign Minister highlighted Pakistan’s military aggression despite mediation efforts by various countries, including China, accusing them of destabilizing the region and hindering diplomatic solutions.
He mentioned previous incidents, such as airspace violations and civilian bombings, attributing them to Pakistani forces. Muttaqi affirmed that Afghan security forces responded defensively by targeting military sites involved in the attacks. He reiterated the Islamic Emirate’s commitment to defensive actions until Pakistan ceased its violations and crimes, emphasizing the desire for positive regional relations and stability.
Muttaqi also addressed the broader regional context, expressing hope for an end to unlawful aggression by the United States and Israel against Iran. He urged Iran to avoid targeting uninvolved countries to prevent regional conflict escalation. The Foreign Minister called on diplomats to convey Afghanistan’s stance to their respective capitals, emphasizing the government’s determination to defend its territory, sovereignty, and dignity.
