Afghan forces conducted retaliatory strikes along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, resulting in the deaths of 55 Pakistani soldiers and the capture of two bases and 19 posts. The Afghan Ministry of National Defence confirmed these actions on Friday, mentioning that the counter-attacks were in response to Pakistan’s strikes on Afghan territory, which had caused casualties among civilians.

The attacks occurred on Thursday night and targeted posts of Pakistani military forces in the east and southeast directions, across the Durand Line. During the operations, Afghan forces destroyed two Pakistani military bases and 19 posts, leading to the death of 55 Pakistani soldiers. Additionally, several soldiers were captured alive, while others managed to escape.

The Ministry reported that Afghan forces seized numerous light and heavy weapons, ammunition, and military supplies during the operations. They also destroyed an enemy tank and captured a large military transport vehicle. However, the retaliatory strikes resulted in the loss of 8 Afghan soldiers, with 11 others sustaining injuries.

Moreover, the Ministry highlighted that 13 Afghan civilian citizens, including women and children, were injured in a missile attack by Pakistani forces on a refugee camp in the Afghan province of Nangarhar. The Taliban criticized Pakistan for its airstrikes on Afghanistan, denouncing it as a “shameful act” and warning of a military response.
