Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) announced that Afghanistan will host Sri Lanka for a white-ball series in the United Arab Emirates next month. This series marks only the second bilateral T20I encounter between the two teams, with the first meeting held in February 2024.
The three T20Is are scheduled to be played at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on March 13, 15, and 17, while the ODIs will take place at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on March 20, 22, and 25. ACB CEO Naseeb Khan expressed excitement about hosting Sri Lanka for the first time, emphasizing the importance of the series in enhancing the team’s performance for upcoming events.
The series comes after the Men’s T20 World Cup and precedes the Indian Premier League (IPL) and Pakistan Super League (PSL). Sri Lanka Cricket CEO Ashley de Silva highlighted the significance of this historic tour, as it is the first bilateral series hosted by Afghanistan for Sri Lanka. The ODI series concludes a day before the IPL and PSL begin, with players from both squads expected to participate in the franchise competitions.
