Agartala Railway Station is all set for a significant makeover as part of the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, with an initial investment of Rs 48 crore approved for Phase-I redevelopment. A new MEMU passenger train service connecting Agartala and Karimganj in southern Assam is expected to commence within the next ten days, enhancing regional rail connectivity.
Under the scheme, a new three-story station building will be constructed at the heart of the station complex, as announced by Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) General Manager Chetan Kumar Shrivastava. Shrivastava, along with senior railway officials, conducted a comprehensive two-day inspection of crucial railway infrastructure and operational facilities in Tripura under the Lumding Division.
The modernization project at Agartala Railway Station, estimated at Rs 48 crore, is scheduled for completion by March next year. The revamped station will offer commercial spaces, eateries, improved passenger facilities, modern retiring rooms, budget-friendly sleeping pods, enhanced parking, and a well-designed circulating area.
