The agitation in Jaipur against the proposed RIICO industrial project at Bhairana Dham saw a significant development as Nagaur MP Hanuman Beniwal led a march towards the state capital with numerous supporters. Following discussions involving key officials, an agreement was reached addressing crucial issues related to the disputed land and industrial plans. Beniwal hailed the agreement as a victory for Rajasthan’s soldiers, farmers, and Sanatan culture.
The movement gained momentum after a large Mahapanchayat at Bhairana Dham, where protesters voiced concerns over the industrial zone and dairy plot allocations. They highlighted the land’s historical significance as a grazing area, religious site, and water conservation zone, warning of threats to faith and the environment. Despite earlier failed negotiations, Beniwal’s call for a march to Jaipur drew thousands of supporters from various districts.
The convoy’s advancement towards Jaipur raised law and order concerns, leading to intervention by district and divisional officials. Talks held at a temporary camp along the highway, involving Beniwal and administrative authorities, resulted in the suspension of all industrial activities and construction linked to the project. Additionally, dairy plot allotments and commercial dairy plot work have been halted, with the formation of a joint committee to examine the dispute.
The newly established committee, comprising saints, public representatives, and officials, will conduct a physical inspection of the disputed land within seven days. Its assessment will focus on identifying natural water bodies and flow channels within the project area, in compliance with High Court guidelines. While the agreement has eased tensions temporarily, the committee’s findings are crucial for the project’s future.
