Atul Bora, the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) chief, will be sworn in as a Minister in the new Assam government on Monday. He expressed gratitude to the people of Assam for giving a “historic mandate” to the NDA for the third consecutive time. Bora also thanked Himanta Biswa Sarma for including him in the Cabinet.
The swearing-in ceremony of Himanta Biswa Sarma as the Chief Minister of Assam for a second consecutive term is taking place in Khanapara, Guwahati. This marks the third consecutive time a BJP-led government is being formed in the state. Four ministers, including Rameswar Teli, Atul Bora from AGP, Charan Boro from BPF, and Ajanta Neog, will also take the oath of office.
Atul Bora, speaking to reporters, highlighted the significance of the NDA government taking oath for the third time. He praised the Chief Minister’s efforts over the past five years for the state’s development. Notable leaders like Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh are expected to attend the ceremony.
Several senior leaders, including Union Ministers and Chief Ministers from NDA-ruled states, are arriving in Assam for the event. The NDA, comprising the BJP, AGP, and BPF, secured a significant victory in the recent Assembly elections, winning 102 out of 126 seats. The BJP alone secured 82 seats, with AGP and BPF winning 10 seats each.
