Amid the ongoing vote counting in Assam, Atul Bora, the President of Asom Gana Parishad (AGP), expressed optimism on Monday that the NDA, led by the Bharatiya Janata Party, will emerge victorious in forming the next government. Bora highlighted that the election trends align with the alliance’s expectations, indicating strong support from the people for the NDA’s developmental initiatives in the state. He noted a significant response favoring alliance candidates throughout Assam, suggesting a clear mandate for the NDA.
The AGP leader emphasized that the election results reflect the electorate’s trust in continuity and endorse the development and governance efforts of the ruling alliance. Bora pointed out that voters are emphasizing progress and stability in their electoral decisions, underscoring a preference for the NDA’s development-centric approach. He also criticized the Congress, stating that the rejection of the party by the people stems from its perceived failure to deliver development during its tenure.
As the vote counting progresses under stringent security measures, clearer trends are anticipated to emerge later in the day. The BJP-led NDA is leading in 99 Assembly seats, while the Congress-led opposition alliance is ahead in 24 constituencies in the initial phases of the Assembly elections count. The polling for the elections, held on April 9, witnessed a high voter turnout of 85.96% from a voter base exceeding 2.50 crore.
