The Ahmedabad City Crime Branch has interrogated over 200 individuals with a history of violence or communal discord to ensure a peaceful Rath Yatra, officials revealed. This security measure aims to maintain communal harmony during the procession. Additionally, the security plan involved search operations in sensitive areas and drone surveillance along the Yatra route.
Police efforts also led to the dismantling of an inter-state criminal gang, resulting in the arrest of five individuals and the seizure of nine illegal firearms. The Crime Branch emphasized the importance of conducting the entire Rath Yatra smoothly and peacefully, highlighting the significance of the preventive actions taken. These measures are part of a broader security arrangement in Gujarat ahead of the upcoming Rath Yatra.
In a separate development, the Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad apprehended eight individuals allegedly associated with the banned Jaish-e-Mohammed. This action thwarted a suspected attempt to establish a terror network in the state before the festival period. Authorities have ramped up surveillance and preventive policing for the procession, utilizing advanced drone technology and enforcement operations to mitigate potential threats during the religious event.
