The Ahmedabad Crime Branch apprehended two individuals and retrieved stolen assets valued at almost Rs 1.47 crore related to a significant house burglary in Manekbagh Society, Satellite area. The theft transpired between January 11 and January 16, while a doctor’s family was away during the Uttarayan festival. Exploiting the absence, the suspects unlawfully entered the premises and looted cash and jewelry.

A formal complaint was lodged with the Crime Branch, prompting an extensive inquiry. Specialized teams were assembled, and over 200 CCTV recordings from nearby locations were scrutinized. Through technical surveillance and intelligence inputs, the culprits were identified as Kamlesh alias Gugo Parmar, 29, from Chandkheda, and Mehul Parmar, 26, residing in various parts of Ahmedabad. Both hail from Banaskantha district.

Kamlesh, a repeat offender with a history of 10 prior cases of burglary and theft across different police jurisdictions, particularly targeted locked residences during festive periods. The seized stolen items include Rs 45 lakh in cash, 2,278.99 grams of gold jewelry valued at approximately Rs 1.01 crore, 557.4 grams of silver jewelry worth around Rs 50,000, and diamond ornaments. The total recovered assets are estimated at nearly Rs 1.50 crore. Legal actions are being pursued against the accused under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

The investigation by the Crime Branch extends to determining if the duo is connected to similar burglary incidents in other parts of Ahmedabad.
