The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has instructed its employees to promote carpooling and shared mobility to reduce petrol and diesel consumption. The directive, issued by the Municipal Commissioner, encourages employees working in the same or nearby premises to coordinate carpooling for daily commuting. Field officers are also urged to adopt shared travel arrangements like carpooling or two-wheeler sharing with colleagues.
To minimize the use of national resources like petrol and diesel, employees commuting on two-wheelers are advised to arrange shared rides with nearby colleagues. The civic body highlighted the operational 1,350 buses under the Ahmedabad Municipal Transport Service (AMTS) and the Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS), with an additional 1,405 buses expected to be inducted soon. Citizens are encouraged to utilize public transport, including AMTS, BRTS, and the Metro system.

She stressed the importance of efficient transport systems in modern cities, citing benefits like congestion reduction, time-saving, and lower air pollution.
