The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) took steps to mitigate heat and raise cleanliness awareness during the 149th Lord Jagannath Rath Yatra. To enhance the experience for the numerous devotees, mist vans, fire brigade teams, and public awareness initiatives were deployed along the procession route. Multiple departments collaborated to provide relief as large crowds gathered for the annual event in hot weather.
Fire and Emergency Services personnel sprayed water on roads along the Rath Yatra route to lower surface temperatures. Dedicated mist vans continuously released fine water mist to make conditions more comfortable for devotees. Officials highlighted that fire brigade teams and mist van units were on constant patrol, ensuring water was sprayed wherever necessary as the procession moved through the city, focusing on devotees’ convenience and safety.
In addition to heat relief measures, AMC’s Solid Waste Management Department conducted a cleanliness awareness campaign along the procession route. Public awareness stalls were set up, and a live mascot representing the city’s waste segregation system interacted with devotees, promoting responsible waste disposal. The campaign aimed to spread the message of “Clean Ahmedabad, Beautiful Ahmedabad” to the devotees and residents attending the Rath Yatra.
The initiative combined religious celebrations with environmental responsibility and civic cleanliness awareness. Departments remained operational throughout the day to manage the Rath Yatra smoothly, ensuring public convenience, safety, and sanitation along the procession route.
